A visit with Marc P. Beige, President of Rubie’s Costume Company

Marc P. Beige, '72, grew up in Queens, New York, where his parents Rubin and Tillie Beige owned and operated a small candy store that carried masks, party gags, sodas and ice cream.  This local shop, known to the neighborhood as “Rubie’s Fun House,” later became “Rubie’s Costume Company,” which rented theatrical and masquerade costumes.

Upon graduation from Queens College, Marc taught at Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn for a short while and then went into the family business.

Celebrating over 45 years as President of Rubie’s Costume Company, Inc., Marc’s dedication and passion for Halloween costumes and accessory design led to the tremendous growth of Rubie’s and introduced a new vision as to how Halloween is viewed today.

Through the hard work and assistance of his brothers Howard and Joel and his sister Maxine, Rubie’s has become one of the largest costume companies in the U.S.A. with companies throughout Europe, United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel, Mexico, South America and Australia.
